Sizes and lines of text

  • 1 x 3 inches: up to 2 lines, for valve labels like MAIN DRAIN
  • 1.5 x 3 inches: up to 3 lines
  • 2 x 4 inches: up to 4 lines, for FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANEL on a door
  • 2 x 6 inches: up to 4 lines, for FIRE DEPARTMENT CONNECTION on an outside wall
  • 4 x 6 inches: up to 7 lines

The plate

  • Engraved 2-ply laminate, 1/16 inch thick. The lettering is the contrasting core layer, cut into the plate, so it cannot peel, fade or rub off
  • UV-stable, rated for indoor and outdoor use
  • Square corners
  • Red with white text or white with black text
  • Adhesive back, two screw holes, or no mounting, at no charge

A note on requirements

Placard requirements vary by city, fire marshal and code year, and some ask for reflective signs, which we don't make. Check what your fire marshal expects before you order. We engrave exactly the text you approve.
